Congratulations to the latest graduates of the 7th Path Self-Hypnosis Ultimate Recognitions course! I am so proud of what you are all doing to take our special form of self-hypnosis throughout Asia and Australia!

Nicole, Yogesh, Ahmed, Pablo, Linda, Jennifer, Tessie and Bruce!
What is 7th Path? It is an extremely effective way to provide yourself a release from old limiting beliefs and habit patters, while at the same time providing you with a way to program yourself for success. I like to call it, “The very first anti-virus software for the human mind.” This is because we accidentally pick up negative programs during our lives (like bad virus programs on a computer), and 7th Path neutralizes and removes them so they won’t hurt us or limit us any longer.
What are the Ultimate Recognitions? This advanced method of self-hypnosis consists of learning a series of hypnotic suggestions that you give yourself. When you first start off, you learn at least 5 of these suggestions, which are called the Basic Recognitions. Once those have been learned, the practitioners go on to learning the Advanced Recognitions. All of these Recognitions come in the Short, Full and Ultimate forms. The Ultimate forms are an ultra advanced form of the program with greater emphasis on developing one’s spiritual side. It can be a fantastic spiritual journey when you get to this level!
This was a wonderful group of students to work with and teach. They are truly inspired and dedicated to helping spread the teaching of 7th Path Self-Hypnosis and 5-PATH Hypnotherapy as well. This class consisted of students from Singapore, Canada, Malaysia, Australia and Bangladesh.
Once again, congratulations to you all! And, thank you for carrying the 7th Path Self-Hypnosis® program back to your home countries and communities. I know that everyone will be uplifted by it.

Hello Everyone, I’m sending this entry from Singapore. I just got off the radio where I has doing an interview with Yasmine Yahya! It was wonderful telling the good folks on the radio here in Singapore about hypnosis and my upcoming hypnosis certification course here at the Bayview Hotel starting next week.
By the way, I just completed teaching a course to some hypnotherapists on how to teach the 7th Path Ultimate Recognitions. It was wonderful and we had hypnotherapists from as far away as Australia! I just love this profession. It is so important to get the word out about what we are doing. And, that brings me back to the topic for this post…
Learn hypnosis! If you ask me, it is time for helping professionals all around the world to start learning hypnosis. Why, because it is the right thing to do. There is simply no reason for most people to go through years of sessions with a counselor or psychologist to get over fears, build self-esteem, improve their relationships and get over their bad habits.
Certainly, those individual’s with serious mental health illness need long term care, but most normal everyday people, with normal everyday problems can benefit from much shorter treatment programs. And, shorter treatment programs both save money, and free up service providers to work with those who need long term care. This should be especially of interest to state agencies who have to do so much with their limited budgets.
Nurses can also be much more helpful to their patients if they learn hypnosis! For example, with just a few days training nurses and other medical professionals can begin to help patients with pain management with hypnosis. And, they can make patients more comfortable, while making their medications more effective by applying some simple speech patters that are well known to hypnotists and hypnotherapists.
I expect that as the news gets out, that for most situations, the application of advanced hypnotherpeutic techniques can make standard treatment programs shorter, insurance companies will begin to demand that service providers move forward and begin to seek hypnosis training, and provide this faster approach for their clients and patients.
PS – Remember to read about the National Guild of Hypnotists’ Solid Gold Weekend in February. It is going to be fantastic!
First off, to everyone in the USA, happy Thanksgiving Day. Enjoy the friends, family and food. Hmmm…. Food. That brings me to my topic for this post, and for an ongoing project between now and August 2007.
Confessions—it seems are always interesting. Let’s find out what you think of mine.
First off, it is not all bad. It started when I first received my certification in hypnotherapy. I started using what I knew about hypnosis to lose weight. However, it was not in and of itself sufficient to bring me much success, so the rest of what I needed to learn about weight loss came from my clients, and that information, or at least a great deal of it, is in my book, The Secret Language of Feelings. With that knowledge in hand and a very special kind of self-hypnosis, now called 7th Path Self-Hypnosis® I managed to lose about 60 pounds. But that was only a partial success.
I suppose that is when it began to happen and here comes the confession. Before I lost all of the weight that I really needed to lose, maybe another 30 pounds or so and reached my “ideal weight” whatever that means, I stopped losing weight and pretty much went into a “holding pattern.” I suppose a big part of the problem was that I was pleased with myself for doing so well, at least up to that point. The end result was that I lost motivation. After all, my life was great and no one was after me to lose another pound. And, I think my wife was even a bit relieved as I eased up on my dietary restrictions, and began to eat in a way that seemed to be more “normal” in our house.
I was pretty happy with my success for quite a while; I continued to carry on with the status quo as they say. Then we made the big decision, we decided to move to California all the way from Minneapolis, Minnesota. This was a huge undertaking; moving our entire business, including our school, and not only that, we had to sell a home, and buy another (plus all of that packing and unpacking that goes with that process). It was quite a chore, and since we just moved into our new home about a week ago, we are still up to our hips in boxes. (Life goes on, and before we get all moved in, we are off to Singapore to conduct some hypnosis classes, and I’m writing this in an airport as we wait for Singapore Airlines to ready our plane. I’ll post this as soon as we land. Oops, I am off topic, forgive me and I’ll get back to the confessions now.)
We arrived in Orange County and “hit the ground running.” We moved into a furnished apartment that we expected to serve us for a couple of months while we find a new home, and get our new office up and running. That is when it began, working late, not having a great place to cook when we got home and all of the other challenges of such a big project can provide, and the expected two month stay became six months. And, as the time went by my weight has crept up a bit, putting on about 15 pounds or so. Well, I can see that I need to get back on track, and do so pretty quickly.
Did I mention that I’m headed off to Singapore? This means that I am not going to be in the best situation for losing weight, and getting back on track. But I AM ready to make a commitment and here it is. I commit to coming to the next National Guild of Hypnotists Convention in August, 2007 at my ideal weight. I expect that I will get started right after Christmas. (It is so cliché to wait until the New Year.)
This is what I want to do between now and then:
1. I am going to research a really great eating plan, and find some really great recipes so that I can still have something good to eat each day, but lose some significant weight. I want to have a plan for this in place and kitchen fully stocked with all the right stuff so that I will always have what I need to be successful (you know, celery, lettuce, etc.)
2. I have to figure out what my ideal weight is. I am about 5 foot, 11 and half inches tall, and am 51 years old as of last week. I’m sure there is a proper chart somewhere on the Internet, or I’ll go to the doctor and get some advice here.
AND, I’d love to get your input. What kind of eating program do YOU think should I embark upon? Do you have any really great “healthy eating” weight loss recipes?
And, just to keep you all posted on my progress, I am going to report everything right here on this Web log (blog). Hmmm, I wonder how I should do that? What do you think? Would a weekly weigh-in suffice? Or would measurement be better? Let me know what you think.
Here is my plan as of now:
1. I am going to motivate myself using 7th Path Self-Hypnosis®, and reading about weight loss successes. I might also use my new TiVo to record some of those weight loss programs like “The Biggest Loser” or the “Celebrity Fit Club.” It is so fun watching others succeed. For me that is always inspirational.
2. I am going to eat in a way that is healthy and will promote excellent weight loss.
3. I am going to exercise every day, with one or two light days of exercise per week, and the rest will be moderate levels of exercise.
4. I am going to drink an ample amount of water.
5. I am going to get an ample amount of sleep, which will probably be a real challenge for me. I have always undervalued getting much sleep. I wish I could operate on 0 sleep! Alas, I hear that it is an important part of being healthy and losing weight. I just bought a great new bed and now it looks like I’m going to get some use out of it.
By the way, I invite anyone who would like to write comments here to do so. And, if there are any other overweight hypnotists who would like to join me in making this commitment, please let me know and we will be successful together!
Tuesday I head off for another great trip to the wonderful country Singapore! While I am there I will be visiting with old friends, and family. That is all good and fun, but I also want to tell you that I will be conducting some training courses while I am there.
I will be teaching a two day class on how to do the 7th Path Self-Hypnosis® Ultimate Recognitions. To qualify to take this class you need to be a 7th Path Self-Hypnosis® Teacher.
I will also be teaching a CPHI (Certified Professional Hypnotherapy Instructor) course. To qualify for this course you must have been previously certified as a 5-PATH® Hypnotherapist.
Here is the biggest news! I will also be teaching our 10-day National Guild of Hypnotists Approved Hypnosis Certification Course with 5-PATH® and 7th Path Self-Hypnosis® Teachers Certification. I just love teaching this course! It is way beyond any other hypnosis course on the planet. But don’t take my word for it, check out what others are saying who have taken the course.
To learn more about this upcoming course check out this web page and get all of the details.
I’ll try and keep in touch while I’m gone. I hope you are all enjoying the podcasts and the Meet the Pros Hypnosis Seminars! You can listen to them any time from any computer connected to the Internet. How cool is that!
Thank you all for the wonderful feedback on this series. I’m reading that you are really enjoying the fact that I am teaching at this more advanced level in these podcasts. I will continue to do as much advanced teaching as I can, but also mixing it up with more intermediate and sometimes basic topics as well.
Well, let’s continue with the series; as usual I will “pluck” a question from one of our hypnosis discussion groups on Yahoo! and paraphrase it to use in the example. Then I will go over the general points listed below, and then wrap it up by applying those principles to the example.
Question: I’m ready to do a third session for hair pulling with a client, who had a lot of difficulty with the AR session. She seemed to have a lot of difficulty “seeing and feeling anything” during the AR. I tried Parts therapy on her and she said that both parts had come to an agreement on what to do rather than pulling her hair, and now the habit has been reduced quite a bit, but she is still pulling her hair. Any suggestions as to what I should do next?
- Obsessive Compulsive Disorder is a Psychological/Psychiatric diagnosis. So you need a referral if you client has been diagnosed. Be aware that this is not true when clients self diagnose.
- You want to seek these referrals because they will help to build your practice.
- Hypnotists don’t make such diagnoses. We simply work using the principle that there is either a belief or emotion that the client is experiencing, and this driving the problem.
- So there is either a cognitive or emotional or both driving the problem, and so 5-PATH® is the indicated treatment.
- Also, remember that 5-PATH® has a system to deal with Secondary Gain if it exists.
There it is! I hope that you are also considering joining one of our email groups on Yahoo, so that you can join in on the ongoing discussions. And also visit our other websites for learn more about hypnosis training in your area, through the Internet, or by way of DVD series.

PS – Remember to read about the National Guild of Hypnotists’ Solid Gold Weekend in February. It is going to be grrrrrreat!
Sometimes I come across something so special that even though it is not about hypnosis, hypnotherapy, etc., I just have to share it with you.
That is the case with Skidboot, one real cowboy’s dog, who has an amazing story and an amazing video. I hope you will take the time to watch the video. I think that you will be touched by it.
Thank you Wendie for sending it to me so that I can share it with everyone one.
I hope you will tell others about this wonderful story of love and companionship.
I’m really enjoying doing all of these interviews with our successful graduates. Each one has their own story to tell; each graduate finding their own way in our beloved profession.
Today I am honored to interview my favorite grad that provides hypnosis in Singapore! In all fairness, and in the spirit of full disclosure as they say, I need to tell you that Linda is my sister-in-law. She went through our very first course that we taught in Singapore.
Let me tell you a little bit about Linda Damara, more from a personal point of view before we get into the information about her hypnotherapy practice. First, Linda is a very “up-beat” person who finds thinking about things in a positive way very natural. Because of this and her naturally “chatty” personality she is fun to be around and comes across as a real “people person.”
Ever since we first turned our attention to the idea of bringing our hypnosis training to Singapore she has been of great help, and really runs our interests on that side of the world, doing everything from working with potential students so that they have the information that they need to decide upon taking our classes, to providing ongoing support to our newest graduates. She is really great, and I am totally looking forward to doing this interview with her.
Before I get started I want to share with you that she is a great hypnotherapist who has my complete confidence. We have referred many clients to her in the past and have heard the greatest things about the work that she does.
Okay, now I can get on to the interview!
Cal Banyan: Hi Linda! This is going to be fun. I have to forget that I am your brother-in-law for a few minutes and be very business-like now. So, give us some background on yourself and tell us why you decided to get into the hypnosis profession.
Linda Damara: Hi Cal, this is going to be fun. I’ll be all business because I really want to tell everyone about hypnosis and how great it has been for me! Here we go…
From a young age, I always liked seeing people happy and smiling and it always upset me to see people sad or angry. I got interested in Hypnosis after reading the book “Many Lives, Many Masters” by Dr. Brian Weiss in 1999. I found it very interesting and exciting. I remember thinking to myself “how fulfilling it must feel, to be able to help someone using Hypnosis”. Then in 2000, when I began assisting you and Maureen as a Course coordinator for the National Guild of Hypnotists Approved Hypnosis Training you were going to do here in Singapore. It fed my Hypnosis interest even more as I got to learn more about Hypnosis. So in 2002, I took the Hypnosis training so that I can help people to be positive and happy with themselves.
Cal: It was really great having you in Singapore to help us out. I know that you have worked with every student that has gone through our program. We appreciate all that you have done for us and the new 5-PATHers!
Okay, so you have been in practice for some time now. You are full time in the profession. Why don’t you tell us a bit about your office, and your clientele?
Linda: My office is set up solely to cater to clients who need “Hypnotherapy” to make positive changes in their lives. Because my office is located in an old walk-up building, usually when the clients visit me for the 1st time, as they are climbing up the stairs (my office is on the 2nd floor)… their minds are wondering what kind of office/practice will it be etc… However, the minute they step into the office, all these new clients comment that they feel so calm and relaxed.
Very quickly my new clients settle in and I will have them fill out the paperwork. After that I have them watch your pre-talk video, “The Truth about Hypnosis.” If they are in to see me about working on a bad habit, addiction, or compulsion, then they also watch your other video “The Secret Language of Feelings Revealed – Addiction, Obsessive, Compulsion and Emotions”. These videos have been such a great help for all my clients. After this, they are ready to begin and we head to the Therapy room into the comfy recliner and get to “work”.
