The first topic Cal and Brenda cover is about age regression and trauma. Ella M from the Ask Cal group on OurHypnoSpace has read that age regression and trauma don’t mix and wonders if Cal approaches clients differently or uses methods other than 5-PATH® when dealing with trauma or PTSD. Cal agrees that you should not mix age regression with trauma when you don’t know what you’re doing. Cal then goes on to explain how he uses 5-PATH when dealing with clients that have experienced traumatic experiences even if he isn’t aware of the traumatic event. Brenda expands by sharing her experiences using 5-PATH hypnotherapy to help victims of sexual assault and abuse.
The second question comes from an experienced hypnotherapist on the 5-PATH® Yahoo! Group. The 5-PATHer saw a client for bruxism and felt like the client was progressing through phases 1-4 and passing each of the checks and balances very well, however, the client went home and was still clenching her teeth. The 5-PATHer is wondering what you do when 5-PATH® sessions were "successful" but don’t resolve the problem. Cal goes on to explains how he would use the "segue", compounding, and age progression to make sessions more powerful, and uses bruxism as an example.

It’s time to break the routine as Celeste takes over introduction duties in this week’s podcast. Coincidentally, the first question deals with variations on routine and how to avoid getting bored with repetition. Laura on the 5-PATH® group has been doing the “three things we do in hypnosis” in each of her sessions and is wondering if her clients might be getting bored of hearing the same script over and over. She also finds using the same script repeatedly is boring for her and asks what Celeste and Cal do to deal with the repetition. Celeste mentions several techniques she uses to keep the script interesting for her and her clients. Cal expands by explaining how he modifies hypnosis scripts from session-to-session.
The second question comes from Nick, a big fan of Hypnosis ETC. Nick discovered a website that sends clients customized pre-recorded sessions and asks if a site like this is good or bad for the profession. Cal gives his opinion on pre-recorded hypnosis and how it compares to sessions with a skilled hypnotist that is well-qualified/trained using a system that works, like 5-PATH®.

Cal and Celeste begin by answering a question posed by Glo on the 5-PATH® board. The question involves dealing with raw emotions during the “high road” and “low road” script and staying emotionally calm when the client reacts. Celeste describes how she deals with emotions in these situations. Cal then talks about emotional resonance and techniques you can use to be 100% with your client.
Cal and Celeste then move on to a second question posed by another one of Celeste’s students regarding an issue with the one of the Elman-Banyan induction, losing the numbers. The student brings up a scenario where she was having difficulty with the technique because the client kept laughing uncontrollably. Cal and Celeste discuss how to deal with issues with specific tests for somnambulism as well as how to handle completely non-compliant clients.
Finally, Celeste shares her experience at the previous annual National Guild of Hypnotists Convention and what convinced her to keep coming back.
