Working Confidently with Family & Friends (Conclusion)

Today we complete the series on how to help friends and family with different issues with hypnosis and non-hypnosis techniques. Celeste provides you with information about how she has helped her niece, and we generalize that information so that you can use it to help your friends and family members when appropriate.

We recommend that before you watch this video, you review the hypnosis training podcast #101 so you are up on everything that we have covered so far.

In this video we go on to cover the following topics:

  • Create a safe and loving home environment where you can model positive behavior.

  • Consider working on yourself or seeking hypnosis services if you are contributing to the problem, i.e., feeling too anxious or angry yourself.

  • It is acceptable to do direct suggestion hypnosis with family members.

  • Consider teaching the self-hypnosis techniques such as 7th Path Self-Hypnosis®.

  • Use waking suggestion, which is especially effective with younger people.

  • Realize that hypnosis is not a panacea and be open to other ways to help.

  • Use the High Road and Low Road Hypnotic Suggestion Script without or without hypnosis.

  • How to follow through and reinforce behavioral changes when needed.

    Hi,

First, thanks for the great podcasts guys.

I don’t understand why you advise to do only direct suggestion work with our family members.

I understand the 2 reasons for this are:

1-Lack of trust(Fear of you knowing confidential) infos may inhibit the session
2-Then may tend to avoid you in the future if some embarrassing informations come up during the session.

But, if you take the time needed to create a positive environment(as Celeste said) and explain to them that whatever happens during the session stays within the session it eliminates the 1st point.

Heres an example that happened to me :

My mother came to me for help about big anxiety issues that she’s had for all her life. She really wants help. Me and her trust each other and I already know a lot about her past and what happened. She has told me she doesnt care what comes up I can deal with it and I told her whatever she tells me is confidential and will only be dealt with professionally.

Now, I did a session with her, doing Age regression, chair therapy and self-forgivness work. The result ? Her anxiety disappeared.

I also did sessions with my brother and girlfriend and have reported good results.

I think that your 2 concerns are valid but can be countered by trust and love.

Please note that I am a fairly new Consulting Hypnotist so I am not speaking from a much expercienced point of view like you Cal.

What is you opinion on this?

    All the best,

    J.
