In this interview Maureen gives out some important tips on how and why you should dress for success. Then she goes into giving you some really important tips on how to book appointments. This Podcast can increase your income as soon as you receive your next telephone call from a potential client!

Here is a brief outline of what Maureen Banyan will cover.

Dressing Professionally:

  • How and why you should dress professionally

  • What dressing professionally looks like for men and women.

  • Tips on how to talk to employees about how they should dress:

How to Make More Appointments:

  • How to get your client to want to book with you and no one else.

  • How to stop them from shopping based on price of services.

  • How to build trust right away.

Of course we hope you can make it to the National Guild of Hypnotists Solid Gold Weekend in Las Vegas, Nevada where she is going to be speaking on the topic and going into much greater detail on both of these topics.

  • Advanced techniques for booking appointments (during normal business hours).

  • How and when to raise your rates.

  • How and when to reduce your fees and make more money!

  • How to make multiple appointments during your first telephone call.

  • How to prevent “No-Shows” and last minute cancellations.

I hope to see you there! It is the best investment that you can make this winter in your hypnosis practice and help you to have the best year yet!

Oh, and here are some links to some of the topics and resources we mention during the Podcast, and a couple we forgot to mention.

Interview with the Very Successful Hypnotherapist, Teacher and Trainer, Matt Sision

MattSison_MED.jpgMy search for interesting, informative and successful hypnotherapists continues. I hope that these interviews will encourage all hypnotherapists everywhere to believe in themselves as well as the profession. I believe that these interviews will provide you with inspiration and some additional tips that can really help your practice to thrive.

I am very happy to do this interview with Matt Sison, an experienced and talented hypnotherapist with a very interesting background. I am especially excited about the healing work he has been doing, and also I want to tell you about his new CD.

With that brief introduction let’s get on with the interview.

Cal Banyan: Matt, it is great doing this article with you. Let’s start off with finding out a bit about the kind of background you had before you became a hypnotherapist.

Matt Sison: Before becoming a hypnotherapist, I was a Fitness Trainer in Los Angeles, California for over 8 years. Being a fitness trainer is similar to being a hypnotherapist in some ways as your clients tell you about their life stories during their workout. I was privy to hearing about all the ups and downs of their lives, and there were more then a few moments I actually enjoyed hearing about their stories more then training them to get fit. It’s probably what allowed me to be a great trainer; I had a genuine compassion for their stories while I made them sweat to exhaustion. It’s because of this compassion; I feel I did much better than the average fitness trainer that only kept their clients for 6 weeks. I kept mine for an average of 2 years with a consistent referral base.

Cal: That is a really unique background, and it makes perfect sense how it really prepared you for working with the clients that you see now in your hypnotherapy practice. And, of course really caring about your clients is key in any helping profession.

How was it that you decided to look into becoming a hypnotherapist?

Matt: I actually started learning about hypnosis around the age of 10 years. My brother, who is currently a renowned psychiatrist, was learning about hypnosis in school and he wanted to try an experiment on me. He had me lay down on the floor, and in retrospect he did a hypnosis induction on me and then laid his index finger lightly on my chest and suggested that I was stuck to the floor. Well, long story short, it worked ;) . So I was hooked and read my first article on hypnosis in Reader’s Digest at that age of 10.

Cal: That is an interesting way to get interested in hypnosis. Then what happened?

5-PATH® is heavily influenced by the work and teachings of the following leaders in the field of hypnosis:

  • Dave Elman’s, book, Hypnotherapy.
  • Charles Tebbitts, now reflected in the books by Roy Hunter.
  • Harry Arons, Master Course in Hypnotism (may be out of print).
  • Jerry Kein, book and videos.

Introduction to 5-PATH®:

Refer to Podcast #17 for a Brief Overview of 5-PATH®

Quick review:

  • Phase I: Preparation, Testing and Convincing Phase (PTC)
  • Phase II: Age Regression and Age Progression Phase (AR)
  • Phase III: Forgiveness of Others Phase (FOO)
  • Phase IV: Forgiveness of Self Phase (FOS)
  • Phase V: Parts Mediation Phase (PMT)

5-PATH® is a flexible system, hence Scrambled 5-PATH®

  • You don’t have to spend a whole session on Phase I (confidence and hope).
  • When you are working on Phase II (AR) and you believe you have done the work needed on the ISE you can move into Phase III (FOO). But if you find out that the client is having difficulty getting in touch with anger, or the reasons they are anger with the offender, you can do more regression.
  • If you find additional fear while working on forgiveness you can always AR and remove it and then return to the FOO or FOS (for guild and anger at the Self).
  • You can always go back to a previous Phase and do additional work. Let 5-PATH® be the main structure, but you can float around inside of that structure as needed.
  • You can also add other skills such as NLP, Ericksonian Hypnosis and EFT to the framework that 5-PATH® provides.

Here is that link I promised you to the Banyan Online Supervision Meeting Program (CDs) our externship program.

That’s it. I hope you enjoyed the video. If you have any recommendations for future topics please leave a comment. See the link on the lower right hand side at the bottom of this blog entry.

News: Hypnosis ‘Can Erase Trauma in Victims’, (But Then We knew That Already)

aap.jpgAs you know, I like to pass along good news, and in this article we learn that scientists are catching up with what 5-PATHers already know, hypnotic age regression is a powerful tool that works.

Check out this News article…

Hypnosis may help victims of traumatic crimes overcome fears by freeing them of painful memories, a psychologist says.

The University of Adelaide has embarked on a radical study, recruiting people traumatised by violent attacks or other crimes to help them enter an altered state.

Registered psychologist Birgit Pfitzer says that victims who are unable to escape fearful thoughts are already in a state close to hypnosis.

In this article he states, “So it makes sense that we use this to treat them, to help them unlock these memories, reconsider them and then get on with their lives.”

Free Hypnosis Scholarships for Pros Helping American War Veterans

scholarships-vets.gifHypnosis helps, and the Banyan Hypnosis Center for Training & Services, Inc., a California State Registered School is offering scholarships to professionals who work with war veterans and their families.

These have been very difficult times for the men and women who are serving in our armed forces, especially for those who have experienced the stresses of war. And of course, this stress also affects their families as well. So, we have decided that we want to help, and this is what we would like to do. We would like to provide scholarships for our hypnotherapy certification courses to some of those who are in the helping professions, such as doctors, nurses, counselors, social workers and psychologists who work directly with these brave men, women and their families.

Selection for these scholarships, will be done on a trial and case-by-case basis. Starting with the March 2007 Hypnotherapy Certification course, the Banyan Hypnosis Center will enroll up to two such helping professionals in each class. The size of the scholarship that the person or institution can expect to receive will cover at least 50% off the regular tuition cost, and can go as high as 100% for those who work full time, directly with Armed Forces Personnel, veterans of any war in which the American military has served, and of course their families. Highest preferences will be given to those who will be able to use their hypnosis as part of the service that they provide the vets and their families.

In this way, we hope to bring the rapid relief that advanced hypnotherapeutic techniques can provide to those who have served our country and made us all so proud. We hope this idea will grow and spread. We hope to have helping professionals from a VA Center doing this kind of work on a regular basis. It would truly benefit those who we owe so much to.

The scholarships will be applied to the full 100-plus hour courses given at the Banyan Hypnosis Center for Training & Services, Inc. in Tustin, California.

Upon graduation there will be ongoing support to help to ensure that these valuable techniques are being used in the most effective way to help the vets and their families.

If you know someone who would qualify for this scholarship program please help us to get the word out and tell them about this. By the way, this program also applies to our Hands-On Live Internet Option for our hypnosis certification classes.

More information about this scholarship program can be obtained by calling 800-965-3390 or 714-258-8380. More information at, www.HypnosisCenter.com.
