Here, we are like clockwork, another Friday and we have another entertaining and informative hypnosis training video for you all. This is a special hypnosis training podcast video because today we start a new series.

This new hypnosis training series is all about what we would do if Vincent Van Gogh walked into our offices and wanted some hypnosis sessions!

As you will immediately notice, this time Elronn Ferguson will be my co-host, and just in case you are wondering, Meredith will be back with us. She is just getting some time off while Elronn helps me out. We will just have to see how it goes in the future, if you like Elronn enough we’ll have him back alternating with Meredith to give you all a bit more variety, and give them more time to run their busy hypnosis practices.

“Hypnotizing” Van Gogh, a Pseudo Case History Process In Action

Our intent for this hypnosis training program is to use this “dead celeb” to show you how we would take someone though a hypnotherapy process. As we do this, Elronn will take the lead and I’ll be adding things as we move through the process.

At this point, we expect that it will take about 6 episodes to take you all through the whole hypnosis process. As we do this, we will delve into and expose more of the 5-PATH® that we have ever done in the past in these videos. Even Elronn was surprised at how much I decided to give away during this series about how to do hypnosis and hypnotherapy. So, keep checking back, this is going to be one for the record books!

Elronn starts off by giving a brief overview of 5-PATH® and what he plans to do with this client.

Here’s what we do in Phase I with Mr. Vincent Van Gogh. This is the “PTC” or preparation, testing and convincing phase:

• First contact and first impressions of the client.

• Hypnosis pre-talk discussion. And, why we don’t use the hypnosis pre-talk video with Van Gogh.

• Pre-hypnosis interview, finding out his presenting complaint and special issues. His hypnotherapist teaches him, The Secret Language of Feelings.

• Selecting an appropriate and effective hypnotic induction for the client. His therapist chooses the Elman-Banyan Rapid Hypnotic Induction.

• Then covert testing is done for the deep level of hypnosis called somnambulism is done, and after that overt testing is done to convince him that he is hypnotized.

• We discuss when the hypnotherapist should simply complete the session with direct suggestion, or move on into Phase II (hypnotic age regression) in this session.

• A brief discussion about how we prepare the client for upcoming sessions through the use of post-hypnotic suggestion, such as one for instant re-induction of hypnosis in the next session.

Question: I have a client who says he is lonely and has a fear of getting his own place. He seems to be confused about the cause of his problem and the ISE doesn’t seem related to the problem. What should I do? We’ve done four sessions and he reports that he has experienced no relief.

This one question takes up the whole show and I get the opportunity to talk about lots of important procedures and techniques needed to do your best during an age regression session. There is a lot of information, so much, you’ll probably have to listen to this show twice!

The subject of this episode: Technically, what is hypnosis and suggestibility, really?

• What is hypnosis? In this video I provide you with a 3 part definition.

• What is suggestibility? We need to understand what suggestibility is in order to really understand what hypnosis is.

• What does hypnosis feel like? I talk about a huge mistake new hypnotists make when evaluating their client’s depth of hypnosis.

• How can we know if someone is in hypnosis? Hint, don’t ask the client, “Did you feel hypnotized!”

• What is the difference between guided imagery, meditation and hypnosis, or self-hypnosis? There is a very big difference regardless of what you may have been told. Hint, it’s all about suggestibility.

• Do those “blinking hypnosis glasses” work? The answer is if they create a state of heightened state of suggestibility which has been verified by testing each client, then the answer is “yes”. If depth testing is not done, then you can’t really claim that they work.

• What do you think of hypnotists and hypnotherapists who post “sexy videos” on the Internet, where they supposedly cause subjects to have an orgasm, or when they make people feel and act drunk using hypnosis? You’ll have to watch the video to hear my answer to this one because my response is a bit complicated.

As I said in the last episode, people frequently lose money, jewelry, guns, pictures, diaries, checkbooks, and so on. You can help them to recover these items if you know what you are doing, and in doing so, add another income stream to your practice of hypnotism.

Ten Keys to Finding Lost Items Using Hypnosis Covered Last Episode

1. You can only recover memories, not make them know what they do not know.

2. Let them know that trying too hard can keep it from happening. We need a relaxed state of mind.

3. Schedule more than one session to take the pressure off the client.

4. In some cases, a memory may not exist to recover, i.e., being knocked unconscious, drugs/alcohol, Etc.

5. Make sure you do Phase I: preparation, testing and convincing.

1. Pre-talk.

2. Pre-hypnosis Interview (thumbnail sketch of the problem).

6. Make sure you have somnambulism.

Here are the final "Ten Keys" in the process of using hypnosis to find lost items:

1. Regress to pleasant times before you regress to find the lost item. AR is Phase II.

1. See Hypnosis Training Video Podcast #108: Ten Keys for Successful Age Regression Work

2. Use this as practice time.

3. Make sure that your client can revivify these experiences.

4. Make sure that she is experiencing sufficient detail.

2. Now conduct a date, time regression to find the item, AR is Phase II:

1. Age regress her to a time when she remembered having the item during the pre-hypnosis interview.

2. Move her through that time a number of times so that the event is very real.

3. Then continue to move her forward in time until the item has been found.

3. What you can do if the item is not found in the session:

1. Suggest that after the session something may trigger a memory of the object.

2. Suggest that it may come to her at night when she is going to sleep, or in a dream, and that she must have a pen and paper by the bed ready to write down that information when it comes.

3. Suggest that between sessions, the subconscious mind will continue to connect to where the item is, or was left, so that it can be revealed in the next session.

4. If you need to do subsequent sessions, there may be an emotional blockage:

1. You can use affect bridge age regression to neutralize blocking of the memory, i.e., fear, anger and guilt.

2. If anger or guilt is blocking the emotion, you may want to move on to Phases III and IV.

3. Resolve secondary gain issues if any, and that is Phase V.

HYPNO-CONTROVERSY!

• Are you doing hypnosis or hypnotherapy?

• Are you a Consulting Hypnotist or a Hypnotherapist?

The main topic of this episode is based on my most recent article that I just sent off to the NGH for publishing in the Journal of Hypnotism. In this article, I attempt to make a case that whether or not we are doing hypnotism/hypnosis or hypnotherapy is not really up to us! It is up to our clients, in particular, the condition that they are coming to see us about. If it is just a normal everyday problem (like helping them to have more confidence or eliminating a bad habit) then we are doing hypnosis or hypnotism, however, if they have a condition that has been diagnosed by either a medical or mental health professional, then we are really doing hypnotherapy. I think this is going to be controversial! What do you think? Leave a comment below!

Question for this Episode! When would you not use 5-PATH®? I talk about a few special issues such as working with clients who have come to us for improving their sports performance. There is a time to use 5-PATH® with these clients and a time when you should definitely not.

We get things rolling with an explanation of what age regression (AR) really is. Then, we go into how it can be used to help our clients. We also talk about how the Affect Bridge Technique is so useful, and some of the other age regression techniques that you will want to know about. We also talk about when you should use AR.

I also give some insider tips, tricks and techniques related to AR, which will help you to see why it is such an important hypnotic change technique. Here is a hint, AR done properly can lead to permanent change for our clients because it is an insight technique.

Like the title says, this week we answer a question from a hypnotherapist who is a regular viewer of our program who has some questions about working with a client who is "hard of hearing". There are some things you can do before and during the hypnosis part of the session that can cause these hypnosis sessions to work out very well.

Next, I talk about an excellent way to handle it if your client opens her eyes during the session. Use this technique and your client will close her eyes and go deeper into hypnosis than she was before.

I give you a great tip on how to troubleshoot sessions that are not going well, i.e., when a technique does not work when you think it should. Understanding this hypnotherapeutic approach can fix a lot of your difficult sessions.

Finally, I get to answer a really cool question about doing age regression and how to handle it when your client regresses all the way back to the being in the womb. This leads into an interesting discussion about how hypnotic age regression can be done to get maximum results. I think that some of my comments about this may be controversial! If you are interested in learning about hypnotic age regression, this segment of the our hypnosis training program will be of particular interest.

First, Celeste goes into the history of her niece’s problems and challenges. She discusses some of the things her family and others have done to help her without much success.

Finally, we get into the important information about how she helped her niece. I also talk about why hypnotists should be VERY careful about working with friends or family members. It is important to understand that we should, in most cases, avoid using insight oriented hypnotic techniques in "dual relationships".

Here are some of the techniques that Celeste goes through in this hypnosis training video.

1. Direct and indirect waking suggestion.

2. The Secret Language of Feelings and emotional expression.

3. Being a model who shows how to respond to emotions in a useful way.
