To Hypnotists in the USA – Hypnotists in Florida In Danger – Don’t Be Next

Have you heard? Hypnosis professionals in Florida may lose their ability to practice! A change in the law is in the works if you do nothing. It looks like quick action by the union is the only thing that can save them. (And, may those of us in other states, keep reading.)

Think about it, if members of the AMA and/or APA want to take away the right of Florida hypnotists, would they like to do the same to you?

If you practice in Florida, MUST act now by joining the union so that there will be funds to take on this challenge.

If you practice in another State, then you still need to join the union so that they will have the funds and membership to decrease the possibility that this will happen where you live.

Call the NGH today and join the union and protect your right to practice hypnosis and hypnotherapy where you live.

MEMO: To all NGH Hypnotists

Greetings,

As the old saying goes, there is good news and there is bad news. In this case the good news is that we just received word early enough to take action about the bad news. There is a submitted change in the Florida legislature of the exemption that we now practice under as professional hypnotists. Someone wants to take it away from us. I am including a copy of the legislative change that has been submitted, and as you can see by the attached copy, it would wipe out the ability of hypnotists to practice our profession in that state.

Through the years there have been a lot of roadblocks thrown at us in the U.S. and Canada, but we persevered and came out on top. A problem is that when pro-active members, NFH/NGH legislative officer Scot Giles, and OPEIU, AFL/CIO, CLC act in behalf of all hypnotists, we have a very small union membership of only about 4% of our NGH members. This makes it difficult for us to ask OPEIU to provide a lobbyist to help us in legislative battles. We have about $2000 in the legislative account which is funded by NGH members, whether union or not. Unfortunately that is thousands of dollars less than we need to hire a lobbyist on our own in any state.

OPEIU sets the union dues and we keep less than $2 per member with which to maintain NFH local 104. Our Board officers, and our hard-working legislative officer are all unpaid volunteers, because we believe in what the union can and has done for us. The only money that stays with our local is a small stipend which is used for the secretary/treasurer to do the bookwork and maintain an office at her home.

OPEIU has come to our rescue with lobbyists in the past, but believe me, when we only have such a small number of union members out of all our NGH members it is difficult for me to ask them to spend amounts such as $20,000.00 they gave for Ontario, Canada a couple of years ago.

We need more union members in the U.S. and Canada, and we need them now! We need to show solidarity as a separate and distinct profession in a tangible way.

I expect to be talking to OPEIU President Mike Goodwin next Monday and I would like to be able to honestly say we are experiencing a tremendous influx of new members in NFH local 104. New Year, New Perspective: Are These the Most Controversial Topics in the Profession of Hypnotism?

Over the last few years we have gained quite the reputation around the world as being THE hypnosis training video website. Thank you all so much for helping us to get the word out, but now, we are going to change things up a bit…

2011 is just a few weeks away, and we are going to get controversial. In addition to giving you the greatest free hypnosis training programs in the world, we are also going to plunge head first into looking into some of the most controversial topics in the profession. For the most part, it will be Elronn and me attacking these topics. Agree with us or not, at least you will know where we stand and you can post your opinions here. By the way, there is no guarantee that Elronn and I will agree on these topics either! This is going to be VERY interesting.

Should hypnotists be licensed?
Should we use the title hypnotherapist, hypnotist or consulting hypnotist?

NEWS: Hypnosis for Dental Work

Breaking news from News24.com, dental treatment under hypnosis is a possible alternative for people who cannot tolerate anesthetic.

There are a lot of people who dread visiting dentists. Many are afraid of the pain and ask for anesthesia while some can’t tolerate a painful shot to the gums or they have an allergy with local anesthesia and can only be treated using general anesthesia, so they look for another alternative such as hypnosis.

According to the German Society of Dental Hypnosis (DGZH), fearful patients transmit their tension unconsciously to the dentist and this can affect the treatment itself as the dentist feels the tension. As the DGZH describes it, dental hypnosis aims to put the patient in a relaxed "trance state" for the procedure.

Hypnosis Rumor: Mel Gibson Becoming a Hypnotherapist?

Hypno-Rumor Flash: According to this website, the Braveheart star Mel Gibson is now engaging in a new hobby and it is learning the art of hypnotherapy.

His brother Chris is friends with the leading Australian hypnotist Rick Collingwood and he persuaded him to learn about mind-altering process.

Collingwood said that "Mel’s a natural; he’s got the look as well as piercing blue eyes. He’s going to be a great hypnotist.” Mel’s brother Chris talked to him over the phone about hypnotherapy and he got interested with it.

Science Continues to Find that Hypnosis Has Medical Value

A recent article in the Oakland County, Daily Tribune has just run an interesting article about hypnosis being used in a medical environment. They report that hypnosis has been approved by the National Institutes of Health for improving health and well-being. NIH does some research about hypnosis and what help it can give and they found out hypnosis help people with breast cancer reduced pain, discomfort and cost.

There are many studies that were done by different people and institutions about hypnosis and its medical value. It wasn’t only used on reducing pain for breast cancer but also use as treatment for irritable bowel syndrome, duodenal ulcers and indigestion unassociated with ulcers.

“Hypnotherapist” Arrested In Florida for Representing Herself as a “Dr.”

This is about an article that ran in the St. Petersburg Times, where they report that "Rovhana, 46, was arrested Tuesday night and charged with three counts each of unlicensed practice of a health care professional and unlicensed practice as a psychologist."

I think that all practicing hypnosis professionals should read this article and take heed. There are many things to learn from it, and the experience that this individual is experiencing at the hands of "the law" and "the media".

Just off the top of my head I notice that:

This reporter made an error that put’s the details of the whole story in doubt, that being, the person she calls "Dave Damon" is really "Dr. Dwight Damon" the president of the National Guild of Hypnotists. (Please reporter, get the details right. I wonder what else you got wrong.)
We need to not look or act like something we are not. She is not a medical or psychological professional, but from what the article says (and I’m not so sure about the reliability of the report) that the police believe that she crossed the line.
She held out at "PhD" as a qualification, when she should not have, and even worse she was only a "candidate" rather than a recipient of that "degree". I put "degree" in quotes because I do not know if that "PhD" was from a properly accredited program or not.

I’m sure there are more important lessons to be gained from this "news article". What do you think? Leave a comment and let me know what you think.

President Obama Still Struggles to Stop Smoking… Hypnosis Could Help

So, there he is, the most powerful man in the world, leader of our nation, and the Commander and Chief of the most powerful armed forces in the world, still unable to stop smoking.

He says that he wants to quit, but in his own words, according to USA Today’s website, "I constantly struggle with it" and "there are times when I mess up". Then, he goes on to say, "I don’t do it in front of the kids." I wonder if there is a smoking room in the White House, or does he just step outside?

I’m thinking that a really smart person like Obama, if he really wanted to quit smoking, he could do it. Seriously, lots of people have done it, either by using sheer willpower, a medical intervention such as the patch, or through hypnosis.

Study: Hypnosis can ease respiratory trouble in children

According to a report published by the UPI, "Hypnosis may help children with asthma and other respiratory disorders." Dr. Ran Anbar published his findings in the journal of Pediatric Asthma, Allergy & Immunology. This research indicates that hypnosis can help children who have such symptoms as difficulty breathing, disruptive cough, hyperventilation as well as other breathing difficulties. NGH Newsletter: AAEH Merges with the NGH

According to the latest National Guild of Hypnotists Newsletter, “Dr. Dwight Damon, president of NGH, Inc., and Dr. Walter Brackelmanns, president of AAEH, announced this week that the Association to Advance Ethical Hypnosis is officially merging their membership into the National Guild of Hypnotists.”

This is important because the AAEH is the second oldest hypnotism membership organization, which was founded in 1956. The NGH welcomes the members of AAEH to its membership, and will have more information about the merging of the two organizations in its upcoming publications.
This comes at an interesting time in the history of the NGH, as 2010 is its 60th year. During its history, the NGH has always strived to “provide and open forum for a free exchange of ideas concerning hypnotism.”

I hope all hypnosis professionals will also take the time to learn more about the NGH, the one organization that is doing more to promote and guide the future of the profession of hypnotism. More information about the benefits of becoming a member can be found at www.NGH.net.

Positive News Report on Age Regression Hypnosis to Solve Crimes

It is so nice when a news site runs an accurate, positive news program on the use of hypnosis. WSPA news’ website, posted this video. I recommend that you give it a look and pass it on.

In the hypnosis video, Dr. Kramer discusses how he helps victims to remember the details of a crime, and also why forgetting such details is a protective mechanism.

He uses age regression to help victims to remember the details of the crime, and that new information can be very useful for police and can make all the difference in solving a crime.

He talks about how hypnosis is a normal state that anyone can go into to remember details from past experiences, and now, according to the report, a whole town is hoping that this hypnosis session will lead to the capture of an individual who sexually assaulted his client.

Scientists Use Hypnosis To Learn About Emotions

Natural News reports that scientists are using hypnosis to investigate emotions in a short but interesting article posted Oct. 4th.

In this article, they talk about how emotions originate in the subconscious mind. The only problem with the research in my opinion is that they do not talk about the unconscious mind which controls automatic body functions which result in the "feeling" of the emotion. It is the feeling of the emotion that informs the conscious mind about the internal state we call emotions.

Researchers at the University of Geneva in Switzerland have proven what hypnosis professionals have known for a long time. Hypnosis is real, and it can have a real affect on your body. Any hypnotherapist who has ever created arm catalepsy know that! Now brain scans are providing scientists with the kind of empirical evidence that is meaningful to them as well.

I learned about this in an AP Associated Press article. The results of the research was published in the journal Neuron. Enjoy!

HYPNOSIS NEWS: As usual, when I hear about a promising and credible article supporting the use of hypnosis I like to pass it along to you. According to a report in the Daily Telegraph, "Professor David Spiegel, of the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioural Sciences at Stanford University, wants the National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (Nice) to sanction sweeping changes."

Dr. Spiegel went on to say, "He will tell the Royal Society of Medicine on Monday that Nice should add hypnotherapy to its list of approved therapeutic techniques for the treatment of conditions ranging from allergies and high blood pressure to the pain associated with cancer treatment and bone marrow transplantation."

Midland County Sheriff Gary Painter said, "Hypnosis works, there is no doubt in my mind hypnosis works, but it only works if that individual will let it."

Captain Rory Mckinney said, "There are a lot of things people see and don’t remember." And, he believes that hypnosis is a valuable tool in police work.

Here is a very positive news report with a great video, on the use of hypnosis in managing pain of childbirth.

Here is a bit of how the article starts, "GROVETOWN, Ga. – Imagine a pain free child birth without the help of medication. One Grovetown woman is instructing expectant mothers on a technique she says can offer that and more."

"It was really painful. I felt really out of control. I couldn’t deal with the contractions towards the end especially," Kristie Press said. After one painful childbirth, Press was terrified of what was to come when she heard she was expecting again.

“Using Hypnosis to Treat Nausea in Cancer Patients Receiving Chemotherapy”

7 Public Speaking Survival Tips

I used to be terrified of public speaking – now it’s natural and fun.

Dry mouth, fast heart, sweaty palms, blank mind – yeah I’ve been there! It’s easy to fear public speaking. But I was never just content with overcoming fear. I wanted to be a great speaker. What I needed was a way of calming down and applying simple techniques and strategies to talk like a pro.

When I’d learned to relax (more of that later) I learned and applied the following four steps.

Reassure your audience – they need to know you know your stuff and you are human!
Hook them by being interesting and relevant. Tell them why what you are saying is relevant to them.
Inspire them by giving them information and ways of seeing that are new and applicable.
Leave them on a high by telling a story them encapsulates your central message.

How do you become confident enough to apply the four steps?

Here’s some tips some of which are practical some of which are to do with the way you think about your public presentations and also how you can start to change the way you feel about them.

Tip One

Breath your way to calm. When you breath out you relax that’s why people sigh when they’re stressed.

Breathing in without breathing out causes hyperventilation and worsens anxiety. Just before your speech take five minutes breathing in to the count of seven and out to the count of eleven (quick count-not seconds!). On the out breath hold it a second before breathing in again. This will produce quick and lasting calm. Remember extending the out breath calms you down.

Tip Two

You have a responsibility as the presenter but relax you don’t carry all the responsibility. Presenting is a team effort. Audiences are responsible for politeness, extending their attention and attempting to learn. It’s not all you-it’s a meeting of two halves. Never mind how they judge you. How do you judge them?

Tip Three

Use metaphor and stories. We all experience life metaphorically. The most technical logical person spends at least two hours a night dreaming! Talk detail if necessary but present patterns with metaphors. Folk from 4 to 104 love stories. Use em.

Tip four

Captivate attention by using words that evoke all the senses. Describe how things look, sound, feel, smell and taste. Paint pictures and sensations in their minds with your words.

Tip Five

Vary your voice tonality and speed of delivery. Keep them alert and engaged. Convey energy when need be and slow down when you need to ‘draw them in close.’ You are the conductor to their orchestra. And pepper your talk with humour. Your willingness to be funny shows personal confidence and confidence is contagious.

Tip Six

Tell them what they are going to get. What they are currently getting and then what they have got from you. Sell your sizzle!

Tip Seven

Watch and learn from other great speakers until compelling, relaxed speaking is a part of you.

Rehearse positively. You need to rehearse how your going to feel as well as what you are going to present. Don’t think about your forthcoming presentation whilst feeling nervous as this creates an instinctive association between fear and presenting. This natural negative self-hypnosis is very common with nervous speakers.

Hypnotically rehearse your speech whilst feeling relaxed. This produces the right ‘blueprint’ in your mind. In fact when you do this enough times it actually becomes hard to be nervous!

All great speakers know how to use great self-hypnotic rehearsal. Hypnosis changes attitudes and can bring emotion under control. I used hypnosis, to change my instincts around public speaking. Now I just can’t get nervous whether it’s 50 or 500 people. The world needs great communicators. Go for it!

Scientific Research Indicates Hypnosis May Improve Type of Hair Loss

Here is a report that will be of interest to hypnotists. AAP reports that “Hypnotherapy may enhance the mental well-being of patients with alopecia” and that “Psychological factors, such as stressful events and psychotrauma have also been reported to play a role in the onset of the condition…”

As I teach in my classes, anything that stress makes worse, properly applied hypnotic techniques, such as 5-PATH® can improve or completely neutralize. This study reinforces that view which is based on the Diathesis-Stress Hypothesis, which states that stress is a major component in most if not all forms of chronic illness.

Since Celeste brought up my Informing Soul Technique training™ during this week’s podcast, I thought it would be nice to put the DVD distance learning program on sale this week. But first, here is a bit of information about how this very important hypnosis technique can make your sessions more powerful…

Let me ask you a question… What are the two most important days in an individual’s life? I’ll give you a hint, one of them is the day that you are born. Do you have any guesses what the second most important day is? No, it is not when you die. I also don’t think it is when you get married, have a child, retire or anything like that. The other most important day in any individual’s life is they day they learn why they were born, or why they came into this life! This knowledge gives us purpose in life. That is the great gift that you can give your clients when you have mastered the Informing Soul Technique.

Basically, the Informing Soul Technique can be understood as the use of hypnosis to enable an individual to go before she was incarnated, back to her pure soul consciousness. Once in this state they hypnotist can speak to the soul of the individual and find out why she is coming into this life, and gather other information as well. We specifically work within the period just before the soul incarnates and find out any knowledge of intentions for that life, such as:

her role and purpose in the upcoming life
any relationships continued from before
the purpose of any special challenges in this life

(Covered) Think about the words users would type to find your pages, and make sure that your site actually includes those words within it. Don’t get spammy.
(Covered) Try to use text instead of images to display important names, content, or links. You can use both.
(Covered) Check for broken links on your website. Links that don’t go anywhere are bad.
(Covered) Sign up for Google Webmaster tools. www.google.com/webmasters/tools This free tool has many features and statistical information for your websites on Google.
(Covered) Create an XML sitemap for your website and make search engines can see it. A free tool can be found here: www.xml-sitemaps.com
(Covered) Name your pictures correctly. Instead of “logo-large.jpg” use “hypnotherapy-in-orange-county.jpg”. Do not use spaces in file names.
Do not make your site or web page too complicated. Give the users easy navigation options. If it is easy for a person to use your site then it is easy for a spider (a search engine) to crawl.
Sign up for Google Analytics www.google.com/analytics. This is a great, free tool to find information about people browsing your website.
Create a robots.txt file for your website and properly configure it. This is an advanced tactic, and you can find more information about robot.txt files here.

Remember, you do not have to implement all of these keys or techniques yourself. You can use the information that we have provided for you to consult with your webmaster.

ScienceDaily (July 29, 2008) — A scientist at the University of Liverpool has found that hypnosis can slow down the impacts of dementia and improve quality of life for those living with the condition.

They found that people living with dementia who had received hypnosis therapy showed an improvement in concentration, memory and socialization compared to the other two treatment groups.

Here are the first 3 keys on the list… 10 Keys to Successful Search Engine Optimization (Get Your Site on Google) – Part 1

Page titles and descriptions should be unique. Every page on your website should have a unique title and description.
Think about the words users would type to find your pages, and make sure that your site actually includes those words within it. Don’t get spammy.
Try to use text instead of images to display important names, content, or links. You can use both.

10 Keys to Starting Your Successful Hypnosis Practice on a Budget:

(Covered) Why you should set a budget and how you can determine how much you can spend, and other factors.
(Covered) Make a list of the things that you need to spend money on, and then shop around for prices (you can save a lot)!
(Covered) Do not scrimp on hypnosis training! Get great training and your confidence will grow immensely! Celeste tells us how to find out who has the kind of training you need to be successful with your clients. We recommend generalized training that has a system you can use for a large number of issues.
(Covered) Save money by getting really good hypnosis office training. This includes how to market your practice, book telephone calls, set up your office for maximum referrals and more. Celeste recommends the Banyan Business Start-Up Pack as a resource.
(Covered) Take credit cards using Dial Pay. Dial Pay is the cheapest way to take credit cards and Celeste explains how it works and why you should start taking credit cards right away.

She also tells you how that video camera sitting in your closet can get great SEO for your website.
Get out and meet people. Celeste gives tips on how to get the word out the good old-fashioned way, by getting out and passing out cards, flyers and more. She also tells you how to get doctor interested in your services and why they may a gold mine you may not have discovered yet. She also talks about why doctors want your services and what issues will most likely get your referrals.
Get referrals from your existing clients. Celeste tells you how to ask for them in such a way that they respond and how to keep your business top of mind with past clients so they may think of you with referrals as well.
Keep track of your money with a very simple system. How to remember who paid you and how much? Also, how you keep track of putting money aside to pay taxes. Celeste offers her simple easy system for free!
Set Goals for your business. How to set goals and why setting goals will pay off
If you live in a small town consider moving. Celeste tells you why moving to where people have income to spare canl make you money too. She also tells you the top 5 cities and towns that may be hot for building wealth. Hint: Cal is very familiar with one of them and Celeste was blown away when she found out the top one. You may be too!
Learn how to manage your personal finances and if possible become debt-free. Why being strong financially in your personal life will affect your business and how to get back on track if you are not.

Do not scrimp on hypnosis training! Get great training and your confidence will grow immensely! Celeste tells us how to find out who has the kind of training you need to be successful with your clients. We recommend generalized training that has a system you can use for a large number of issues.

Make sure your hypnosis training has the following:
- Really covers the basic & advanced techniques and has excellent manuals.
- Modern inductions, including instant & rapid induction.
- Training in overt and covert depth testing methods.
- Training on proper use of convincers.
- Training on how to write your own suggestions.
- Training on how to do age regression and age progression hypnosis.
- Training that includes plenty of practice time during the course.
- Plenty of ongoing support, such as online groups, other practitioners, etc.
- NGH approval so you get NGH Certification.
- Additional training materials that will extend your training after you graduate, and should be consistent with the program you have taken.
Save money by getting really good hypnosis office training. This includes how to market your practice, book telephone calls, set up your office for maximum referrals and more. I know this is going to be a really popular hypnosis training video series. This time Celeste takes the lead and shares with you, how she started her hypnosis practice on a budget!

Two days ago the word got out. Hypnotists can get a free listing in our new hypnosis directory… Wow, the response for the free listings on our new directory on www.Hypnosis.ORG has been tremendous! In just a couple of days over 90 people have received their new listing, and we expect that will go over 100 by the end of the day.

Thank you for your interest. If you haven’t been on www.Hypnosis.ORG in the last 24 hours you will want to check it out because we have placed a real obvious link on the main page that will take you and all the visitors to the site right into the directory.

Russian police to use hypnosis to investigate crimes
Lekanov says the first steps in the usage of hypnosis for investigative purpose were made about twenty years ago when his female relative tried to give up smoking. The woman asked psychologist Vladimir Kucherenko to help her.

Hitler was Hypnotized to Overcome Blindness!
The future Furer was hypnotized in the military hospital where he was brought in October 1918 in a difficult psychological condition; he persuaded himself that he had lost his eyesight after the gas attack. Hitler considered himself to become completely blind although the doctors claimed his eyesight was normal.
