Just got a call from a hypnotist a couple of hours ago who wanted to know if he could work out of our center. He said that he had a DCH and so he had the best training in the world. I told him “sorry, you have to have 5-PATH to work at our center.”

Here is the funny part… I asked what he was doing now… He said he was selling insurance!!!

Kind of makes you think doesn’t it? Sounds like something is missing in his training or something.

Thank you Cal! I think every hypnotist who cares about this field should proactively educate consumers about this issue. The public responds very positively when they recognize they are being told the truth!

I think those degrees are WORSE than worthless, are in fact highly damaging to the field and also to the individuals who claim them. For example, I was watching an NGH video of an instructor who kept referring to herself as a “Doctor”, because she had a DCH. This instantly caused me to devalue everything she had to say because if she’s dishonest about that (or perhaps self-deluded enough to sincerely believe that a DCH is meaningful), then I will not trust anything from that kind of source.

I cannot think of a worse way to promote mutual respect and cooperation between hypnotists and licensed mental health or medical people than the existence of these misleading degrees. Sure, some portion of people in the licensed realm will always dislike hypnotists, that will never go away; but these fake degrees provide a legitimate reason to target hypnotists in general, because then it becomes an issue of consumer protection from misleading trade practices.

These degrees are the epitome of foolishness, insecurity, lack of respect for the public, and anyone who promotes themselves with such nonsense must either be:

1. an uneducated rube who is ignorant of what it takes to become an actual M.D. or earn any higher educational degree

2. purposely deceitful

Everything that you said is true.
I learned a lot from the course,
but the DCH “degree” doesn’t really
mean anything. That is why I never
tell anyone that I have the “degree”.
I was just wondering if it held any
weight with the Banyan Hypnosis Center.
Fortunately, I am certified by a
reputable organization that qualifies
for National Guild of Hypnotists
recognizes. Please let me know if I
qualify to take your Week of Power course.
