I want to pass along any good news pertaining to hypnosis when I run across it. It looks like there is some serious research going on assessing the usefulness of hypnosis in reducing labor pain.
According to Medical News Today: Hypnosis reduces the need for drug pain relief in labor, lessens the need for medications that augment labor and increases the number of spontaneous vaginal births, according to the available data. The BBC website posted an article about a program they run on complementary medicine. In this article, titled “Acupuncture ‘deactivates brain’” , they tell about research on the chinese acupuncture method and its effect on the brain.
