The Rock River Times seems to think the history of hypnosis is news worthy. I have to agree with them! Most people have no idea about how hypnosis got its start!
I hope you enjoy the article, Hypnosis Today: How long has hypnotism been around?, by Robert G. Sieveking, CHT (Certified Clinical Hypnotherapist).
I was at Sam’s Club, one of those discount mega-stores, the other day and this fellow came up to me, and surprised me a bit. He said, Mr. Banyan, you don’t know me, but I want to tell you that I learned “7th Path” from one of your therapists and it changed my life. He then went on to tell me the story about how it changed how he felt about himself, and how he lost 30 pounds, “without even trying.”
I don’t write enough about 7th Path Self-Hypnosis®, the mind-body-spirit approach that I developed. That is because I am often at a loss for words and I don’t really know how to tell you about it. I guess this is because I don’t really know what it will do for you. I just know that if you use it, it will make positive changes in your life.
I do know that when I train Hypnotherapists and conduct advanced hypnotherapy courses, learning 7th Path Self-Hypnosis® is one of the greatest surprises to those students who have their lives changed by it. It is amazing what ten days of doing 7th Path Self-Hypnosis® can do for some people!
You can read what they say about the courses and 7th Path Self-Hypnosis® by clicking this link, Hypnosis Training. You will hear about it in their words.
Some 7th Path Self-Hypnosis® practitioners find that they experience emotional healing, and others even say that they have experienced physical healings. They report many different kinds of physical healings, ranging from pain being relieved, skin problems clearing up and more. I’m not saying that 7th Path Self-Hypnosis® heals anything. I believe what it does is it neutralizes internal stress and once that has been done, then your body is better able to heal itself.
How does this happen? It seems that our past can do more than just give us bad dreams or make us feel guilty. Our past can cause a kind of internal stress that can make you sick, or contribute to making you sick, or making a particular infirmity worse. 7th Path Self-Hypnosis® works by going in and neutralizing key issues from the past, as well as many different kinds of limiting beliefs. I like to say that, “It is the first antivirus software for the human computer, your mind”.
So, I’ll just say, I know I don’t write much about 7th Path Self-Hypnosis® but it is not because it is not important. Actually I believe that creating 7th Path Self-Hypnosis® is one of the most important things that I have ever done. I hope you will take a look at it. I think that you will be glad that you did.
I just ran across this short but interesting article about a Harvard Medical School hypnotherapist helping folks lose weight. What a great idea! I’m always excited when the medical establishment starts catching on.
In the article Think Yourself Thin, Laura Oats, CBS 11 News Reporter tells us that not only is hypnotherapy going on at the medical school they are integrating it with an educational approach that is getting results.
I don’t know about you, but I think things are looking up. I hope they back up what they are doing with some good empirical research so that they can support what they are doing and provide working hypnotherapists everywhere with evidence that hypnosis really does work for weight loss. (But then we already knew that.)
I am happy to announce that I have just been personally invited to become a member of the National Guild of Hypnotist’s Ethics Board by Dr. Dwight Damon, the president of the NGH. I happily accepted the invitation and I am honored to be able to serve the hypnosis community in this way.
It is my understanding that through this position I will be able to serve by offering my opinion and experience regarding the continued development of the NGH Code of Ethics and to serve by working with the Board when ethics complaints are brought up against a particular member.
The NGH has been a leader in establishing ethical guidelines for hypnotherapists, and for the profession at large. In the past I have served on the Certified Instructor’s Ethics Board in an advisory and informal capacity, and as my readers may also know, I have recently become a member of the NGH’s main Advisory Board as well. It is an honor to be able to participate at this level, and to be a voice for hypnotherapists as we continue to develop our profession.
Everything seems to speed up when one makes up his or her mind to do something and begins by making those first steps. And, so it is with much of the activity here at our office. Soon we will be collecting bids on those who want to take over our office, and now we need to set a date for our next Certified Hypnotherapy Instructor™ (CPHI™) training course.
What is a CPHI? A CPHI is an experienced hypnotherapist who has been certified in the advanced 5-PATH™ hypnotherapy system and 7th Path Self-Hypnosis®, who have now become certified to teach those systems along with the basics of hypnosis and hypnotherapy. At present there are only three CPHIs.
This March we are holding another CPHI training. If you are 5-PATH™ certified and you want to learn more about becoming a CPHI, call our office right away and we can get that information out to you ASAP! Our office numbers are (763) 785-3390 and (800) 965-3390.
If you are not yet trained in 5-PATH™ and 7th Path Self-Hypnosis® here is some information that I think you will find useful.
Our next 10-Day Hypnotherapy Certification course, leading to certification by the National Guild of Hypnotists, as well as certification in 5-PATH™ and 7th Path Self-Hypnosis® is on March 13-24, 2006 (with the weekend off in between). Right now we only have 3 seats open for this course.
Our next Week of Power, 7-Day Advanced Hypnotherapy Course, for individuals who already have the fundamentals of hypnosis, and want to get certified in 5-PATH™ and 7th Path Self-Hypnosis® is at this year’s NGH Convention in August, 2006. Those dates are August 8-10 and 14-17, the three days before the convention and the 4 days after the convention.
Whew, it is getting really busy around here. I hope you will look into these courses. We do more to support our grads than anyone. It’s like we say, “Our success comes from your success.” That is why we are serious about having great training programs and instructors that were designed to create 1%’er Hypnotherapists. (A 1%’er is the best of the best!)

I want to announce that today I had the great pleasure of being on William Mitchell’s Internet radio program, Stretch Your Mind, Shrink Your Waist, on www.VoiceAmerica.com. We had a great time talking about hypnosis for weight loss and other issues as well as getting into some of the not-so-well-known facets of advanced hypnotherapy including my 5-PATH™ System of Hypnotherapy.
While on the show I enjoyed sharing a couple of case histories, one of which I call the Blind Boy Case, in which I received a medical referral to work on a case of psychosomatic blindness. After going through the 5-PATH™ process, the teen completely regained his sight. His mother and father were amazed, especially his father who is also a physician.
I hope that you will stop by our website, www.BanyanHypnosisMall.com and go to the Meet the Pros Seminar Program area and give it a listen. Note that in the first part of this particular program, there were some technical difficulties which caused my voice to be a bit low. I had my audio technician go through the recording and improve it quite a bit. Because of this you will find that the recording on our website is much better than the one on the www.VoiceAmerica.com web site. This interview, along with other interviews which William Mitchell has conducted, are listed on his website at www.MitchellProgram.com.
Thank you William for having me as a guest. I had a great time, and look forward to talking about 7th Path Self-Hypnosis® next I am on.
